T-Mobile testing completely new prepaid ‘GoSmart’ plan within some select markets.

We always have many T-Mobile news around right now, and this one seems to remain in what we're hearing the last few days. After announcing that it will not be subsidizing handsets commencing in 2013, T-Mobile is also putting a new prepaid option through trials within some few select markets. FierceWireless has just confirmed with T-Mobile directly that this carrier is looking to lanch a fresh set of plans known as "GoSmart" with three unique tiers:
$30 for limitless voice and text
$35 pertaining to unlimited voice, text in addition to 2G data
$45 pertaining to unlimited voice, text in addition to "high speed" data

The first two tiers probably will not too appealing to readers on this site, but the last is quite interesting. Now T-Mobile's current prepaid offerings are much more complex, and you have to pay at the very least $60 for any meaningful volume of data with unlimited talk and text. What is yet for being determined is what T-Mobile means by "high speed data" with your plans.

With its recent plans, that refers to HSPA+ (or "4G" to T-Mo) plus the user is then throttled to EDGE (2G) speeds after having a certain point. The documentation of this new plan at this point is referring to "3G" since high speed, which results in some confusion. T-Mobile for some time now hasn't operated it is UMTS (3G) network independently for decades, and has completely relocated to just EDGE in addition to HSPA+ for data services.

We'll surely know more about this plan if it ends up going live nationwide within 2013.
