23 murdered, dozens wounded in Iraq suicide bombing.

No less than 23 people were murdered and 49 were wounded when a suicide bomber blew himself up among members of an local Awakening Council throughout Taji, Iraq, on Monday.

Dozens of members with the council had lined upward outside an office to take delivery of monthly paychecks when the attacker detonated an explosive vest inside the crowd. Most of those murdered or wounded were members with the council, or al-Sahwa.

Taji is approximately 20 kilometers (12 miles) northern of Baghdad.

Meanwhile, in the separate incident in a western Baghdad neighborhood, a police officer was killed and three were wounded in a roadside bomb exploded next to their patrol.
