Samsung working to resolve latest Galaxy S III hack problem.

Samsung states that they are working “as quickly as possible” to repair an exploit in some of its phones, which could allow hackers to achieve total control over the unit.

The exploit was first reported at the XDA Developers forums on Weekend, and attracted lots of attention from the tech press. It allows malicious apps to regulate all physical memory on it, thereby allowing for remote wipes, access to user data as well as other malicious activities.

All Samsung Android phones according to Exynos 4210 and 4412 processors are vulnerable. As Android Central records, that includes the Galaxy S II on Sprint, Galaxy Case 2, Galaxy Note 10. 1 as well as certain Galaxy Player models. International versions in the Galaxy S III, Galaxy Note and Galaxy Note II are affected, as well as U. S. versions of the Galaxy Note II, but U. S. versions of the Galaxy S III are not affected.

A statement to Android Central, Samsung says it's alert to the issue and is focusing on a software update to make it better. “Samsung will continue to closely monitor the problem until the software fix has been distributed around all affected mobile devices, ” the organization said.
