Sh8, 000 Android Double SIM Tecno N3 Unveiled.

Tecno in partnership with Qualcomm on Thursday Day announced the launch of the Tecno N3 Android touch screen phone. The dual SIM smartphone could be the first Qualcomm Reference Design smartphone in Africa.

The launch happened at the Sarova Panafric and attended by Dr. Bitange Ndemo - Permanent Secretary within the Ministry of Information and Communication, Billy Owino, Qualcomm's Representative of Business Development, Eastern Africa and various Tecno professionals including Company Vice President Arif Chowdhury.

The N3 supports 2 SIM cards with 3G connectivity on among the SIM cards and just 2G EDGE connectivity about the other. The phone operates on Android 2. 3. 5 and contains a 3. 5 inch capacitative touchscreen display (for comparison, the Huawei IDEOS carries a 2. 8 inch display). The phone has an 3. 0 megapixel photographic camera, and a 1, four hundred milliampere hour battery which in turn delivers 3. 5 hours of talk time in line with Tecno.

The phone comes in to choose various colours for the back cover including white, black, yellow, blue, green and pink. The phone's processor is fairly fast sporting a 1 Gigahertz Qualcomm Snapdragon S1 (Model MSM7627A) cpu.

Tecno offers an 8GB storage device with purchase of every phone, with the device supporting as much as 32GB memory cards.

RAM about the phone is 512 Megabytes though Tecno indicates internal safe-keeping of 512 MB, though on initial devices we could only get 175 MB intended for applications.

Tecno appears to possess moved from the trait of other Android manufacturers to pre-load apps inside internal memory, which makes them very difficult to remove when the device runs out of interior memory. The N3's preloaded apps are on the memory card and might be uninstalled.

At the release, Tecno also announced that this devices would come pre installed with Flash Share and Palm Chat applications. Flash Share uses the actual WiFi capabilities of two Android Phones to express files fast by dragging the crooks to the other phones, though Palm Chat exchanges Instantaneous Messaging contacts between 2 Android phones by "shaking them".

Widgets available by moving down the top notification part of the phone including WiFi and Hostpot (Tethering via WiFi). The telephone also has a electric battery saving application.

The Tecno N3 happens to be retailing at Ksh. 8, 000 for most outlets in Nairobi.

Billy Owino says that QRD reduces the procedure and cost that manufacturers undergo to produce phones running on Qualcomm chipsets from six months to 30 or 62 days. This is performed by QRD integrating the actual chipset, software and the board using the manufacturer only having for making minor tweaks and choices. Without QRD, manufacturers need to buy chipsets, make the style and integration with other items of the phone by them selves.

Tecno has plans to launch more Android models like Tecno N5 and Tecno N7 toward Christmas or early up coming year. This will include things like Android 4. 0 Ice Cream Sandwich devices and maybe Android 4. 2 Jelly Bean devices down the road.
